About the company

Community Chesterfield is a three year partnership project between the University of Derby at St Helena’s and Derbyshire Voluntary Action. The project aims to strengthen the voluntary sector in Chesterfield enabling voluntary organisations to be more resilient and to create opportunities for the University of Derby and the Voluntary sector to work together and learn from each other. Derbyshire Voluntary Action connects more than 150 diverse organisations across Chesterfield many of whom have reported big challenges with marketing and promoting themselves with health care professionals, the public and potential service users.

Community Chesterfield is looking to recruit someone to fit in with our friendly and passionate team, to undertake our 360’ evaluation project looking at the impacts of the project on all of our participants who have taken part over the past 2.5 years. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role and it will suit someone who is naturally curious and eager to learn more about the voluntary sector. Experience of writing for different audiences and of preparing reports will be beneficial.

• Ability to build positive relationships and rapport with diverse groups of people

• Someone with an understanding the purpose and practice of evaluation

• Ability to gather and analyse qualitative data, and communicate findings with a range of audiences in creative ways.

What you will be doing:

• Building a portfolio of case studies by contacting individuals who have taken part in Community Chesterfield’s projects. This will involve contacting and having conversations with a wide range of individuals both involved in the university and the voluntary sector.

• Reviewing previous evaluation work which has been undertaken to create a final, holistic document which accurately reports the impact that this project has had on all participants.

• Contributing to reports for funders and partners, and finding creative ways to communicate results with a wide audience – for example through infographics or talking head videos.

What you will get out of it:

• Experience of working within a not-for-profit organisation

• Experience of managing your own project and workload

• Practical experience of project management
