Further funding from the National Lottery

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have received further funding from the National Lottery to continue the Community Chesterfield Project for a further two years.

Looking to the future, we will continue to build relationships across sectors to bring people together to build stronger communities. We will increase skills and opportunities within the voluntary sector and increase knowledge and awareness of the vital work the voluntary and community sector does.

Over the past three years we have created nearly 4000 meaningful connections between local voluntary and community sector groups and organisations and the University of Derby. This has included:

  • Creating tailored training opportunities delivered free of charge to local groups.

  • Bringing together health care professionals, future nurses and other students, voluntary sector groups and their service users, on an equal footing to take part in shared learning workshops.

  • Supporting people with lived experience to share their powerful and personal stories as part of University of Derby modules.

  • Arranging opportunities for University of Derby members to support local voluntary sector groups through placements, skills days, volunteering, research projects and more.

These activities have had enormous benefits for the participants of the project, both University of Derby members and colleagues across the Voluntary Community Sector.

They have really inspired me in their stories and I certainly will look at things differently now having heard their life experiences. Amazing people and amazing sessions so thank you for letting us be a part of that!

We would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has taken part in the project and to everyone who supports the National Lottery and has made this funding and this project possible. We look forward to creating further opportunities for cross-sector collaboration over the next two years and building on the positive impacts that the project has already created.
